Grzegorzek's finest long-form work is a luminously beautiful tale of two intertwining love-stories, unfolding in different time periods. Dense with symbolic imagery, the film mixes various formats to create a hypnotic tapestry of colour and light. Certain sequences have an almost Tarkovsky-esque beauty and intensity to them >> special mention must be made of Jolanta Dylewska's skills as a cinematographer (she's also a very gifted director, as can be seen in her strangely disquieting short film Wlosy) >> likewise Gabriela Muskała's supremely expressive face, which lights up the film.
